Hetta was born and grew up in the family business in South Africa, where she enjoyed playing a wide range of sports from a very young age.
The family had their own badminton court at home (often used for skateboarding, at her parent’s annoyance!) and from that she developed a love and a little bit of skill in sports that require hand-eye coordination. She represented her County at field athletics in High School. Whilst at university Hetta captained the hockey and tennis team and was portfolio holder for Sport on the Student’s Council.
It was during her time at university that Hetta suffered very serious injuries in an accident. This led to a change in direction in sporting activity and Hetta decided to take up golf. It didn’t take long for the “golfing bug” to bite and the never-ending hope for the best round became deeply engrained. A series of lessons followed where she wanted to learn as much as possible about the more technical side of her golf swing so that she could correct issues out on the course or at least try to!
Hetta has had some success on the golf course over the years. She has played in Pro-Am events and more recently won the team event alongside Annabel Fuller, member of the Ladies European Tour, at the Club Company Invitational hosted by Cara Gainer.
James is currently attending university, studying a degree course in Computer Science. He has been in part time employment for several years, more recently working as a shift manager at Costa Coffee in between attending lectures.
James has enjoyed many different sporting activities growing up, such as sailing, triathlons and airsoft. He is currently working towards his light aircraft pilot’s licence. Like Hetta, James has come to golf a bit later in life and is enjoying the challenges and opportunities that it brings.
